According to the national policy on Education, the essence of pre-primary education shall be to:

• Effect a smooth transition from the home to the school.
• Prepare the child for the primary level of education.
• Provide adequate care and supervision for the children while their parents are at work.
• Inculcate in the child, the spirit of enquiry and creativity through the exploration of nature, the environment, art, music and playing with toys etc.
• Learn good habits especially good health habits.
• To teach the rudiments of numbers, letters, colours, shapes, forms etc through play.

Primary Levels (Primary One through Primary Six)

• To inculcate permanent literary and numerical for effective communicate effectively.
• To lay a sound basis for scientific and reflective thinking.
• To mould the character and develop the ability to adapt to changing environment.
• To give the child opportunity for developing skills that will enable him/her function effectively in the society within the limits of his/her capacity.

The broad goals of secondary education according to the National Policy on Education (1998) shall be to prepare the individual for:

• Useful living within the society
• Higher education
• To provide all primary school lesson with the opportunity of a higher level irrespective of sex, social, status, religion, colour or ethic background.
• To offer diversified curriculum to cater for the difference in talent, opportunity and future roles.
• Provide trained manpower in the applied science technology and commerce at sub-professional grades.
• Raise a generation of people who can think for themselves, respect the views and feelings of others respect the dignity of labour and live as good citizens.
• To provide technical knowledge and vocational skills necessary for agricultural, commercial and economic development
